Copywriter Blogger: Pick This One, Not That One. It's a Game of Seconds.

The barrage is constant. It’s like the chocolate factory. They’re coming faster than Lucy can stuff them into her mouth.

Everyone receives them. No matter the electronic device, they find you. Did you make the cut? Do you get the attention you need?

I’m not talking ads. Ads are expensive. Ads depend on the algorithm. I’m not Big Brother. I can’t control the AI.

This one you can control. You can target. You can get into every mailbox. Email is the answer. It’s not dead. It’s alive and well and something you can control.

How do you control it? You own your list. One awesome email can change your trajectory. Yes, a prospect has to open it, but that’s where I come in. I write the subject line that piques their interest.

We’re talking to someone you know. You have their email address. Did they buy something from you before? Let’s remind them you’re ready to help them again. The copy can be short and move fast. We don’t need much time. Let’s just remind them you’re here.

It’s been a couple days. We’ve put your business in the prospect’s mind. How can we help them? Is there new information about the item they purchased? We can segment the list.

We can send a link to an article on your site to those who might be interested. We can send an e-coupon to customers who regularly buy online.

You’ve got to use your assets. You’ve got to keep them current, and an email list is an invaluable asset to have.

Use it well and you’ll have customers for life. Ignore it, and your prospects will find businesses where they feel better served.
