Video Content: The Algorithm Likes It

Your name is gonna be in LIGHTS! You’re gonna be a Movie Star!

If you’re wondering what I’m talking about and you have a business, you need to be using video marketing.

The lights will be on an electronic device, and you can pick the font.

The quickest way to do this is to whip out your phone and record yourself.

Why do you need to be using video marketing?

The reality:

· Per Google, over 1 Billion Hours of YouTube content is consumed every single day.

· Per HubSpot, 78% of people watch some form of online video weekly.

· And, 55% of people watch an online video EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Think about it. Have you watched a video today?

If you answered “yes” and remember what you watched, you should recognize the power of video. It’s memorable. I personally am not a strong visual learner, but that’s not as important as you think. Most videos have sound. Catch my audial attention, and I’ll look at the screen.

So you watched a video, and it was memorable. What did you do next? Yup, you shared it. You sent the link to your friend, coworker, spouse, or kid,

Video works because it shows instead of tells.

My washer recently developed a leak. I didn’t call a repair company. I went to YouTube. I watched several videos. I wasn’t 100% on the diagnosis until one guy said, “If you want to know for sure, you’ll see water dripping down the surface behind the detergent drawer.” Then the video showed how to remove the drawer and where the water would be dripping. I was now 100% confident in what to do.

My washer is back up and running.

You may wonder how I found so many videos so quickly. It’s the algorithm. Enter a search into your browser. Look at the results. Algorithms are starting to favor video.

Videos can include explainers (like my washer repair), demos, testimonials, live streams, and even user-generated content (Tik Tok/IG).

Your company needs video marketing.

Recently when I was working with a group of 80 kids. I asked them to create a script to accompany a Pixar short that had no words. 3 out of 80 of them created something that worked. Several didn’t try and many just didn’t have the skills. Even working in groups, they struggled.

Can you put together a script? I can. I wrote my first play in high school. The prompt for this article was a class I’m taking to enhance my script writing skills now. It’s not for everyone.

When you’re creating a 30-60 second reel, you’ll need to plan what you’re going to say. During a live or an interview, you’ll need to know what questions to ask in order to get the answers you need. I can help you with that.

Just like any other content, you’ll need to consider your audience and where your video will be published.

What’s the purpose of your video?

You need to use video marketing. If knowing what to say in your sticking point, let me know. Making your product or service accessible is what I do.
